the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran joined 25 other organizations and activists in asking Yahoo! to provide the HTTPS option to its users. The Campaign welcomes Yahoo!’s recent addition of this option, as the secure communications protocol will give Iranian Yahoo! users the ability to send and receive email communications with stronger privacy protections.

While the secure option is not implemented automatically on Yahoo! Mail accounts, users can now activate the secure service by clicking on the gear icon in the top right corner of their Yahoo! Mail account, selecting “Mail Options,” “Advanced Settings,” and checking the box labeled “Turn on SSL” as depicted below.
